Still Not Hockey Season

Did you know there’s a basketball World Cup going on right now?  Did you care?

I thought the term "World Cup" was already taken.

Well, me too.  But as it turns out, there is another sports governing body called FIBA, the acronym coming from the French name for the Amateur Basketball Federation.  As such, professional basketball players from all over the world are competing in a tournament much like the recent FIFA World Cup.

This tournament is the opposite of the FIFA World Cup in that the rest of the world cares about soccer (Football), but the US doesn't, whereas the US cares about Basketball, and nobody else in the world does.  The American team is pretty universally expected to win the tournament, having advanced out of Pool Play with a 5-0 record and an average margin of victory of just over 33 points.
