So, that poster I saw for Bruce Willis in a Broadway show
wasn’t a joke?
Yippie ki yay, mother...
...So today's Sametime Status is brought to you by the fact that I saw a poster that made me do a double-take not long ago. I actually had to do a second double-take not long after. You'll see what I mean.
I'm not making this up, actually. It is 100% true that action film star Bruce Willis (Die Hard, The Whole 9 Yards) will be making his Broadway debut. It's not that Bruce Willis isn't a talented guy who can probably do very well in a Broadway play, it just seems a little strange that his career would take a turn like this. It's not especially common for action film stars to take on Broadway roles...or, quite frankly, the other way around. It's also worth noting here that the play he's in (at least I believe this is the case) is NOT a musical. You may be breathing a sigh of relief, but that's actually a little unjustified, as Bruce Willis is a Reasonably Accomplished Musician, who actually wrote some of the songs for the soundtrack to The Whole Nine Yards, among other things. Every day is a learning day!
So, on the surface, it seemed a little strange that Bruce would be doing the Broadway thing. Maybe it'll work out. He's starring in a play with Laurie Metcalf (Roseanne, The Big Bang Theory).
They'll be starring in a stage adaptation of "Misery." There's your second double-take. Yes, the Stephen King novel about the psychotic literary fan holding her favorite author hostage in a cabin is coming to the stage! This in no way seems like a good idea. Oh well...people will see it just to watch Bruce Willis to see if he dies, hard or otherwise. I won't spoil it for you.
