Don't Know If I Want To Win Or Lose

Waiting patiently to see if I win the New Engine Lottery

And you tried to win Powerball last week.  You're just chock full of optimism there, Jeremy.

So, today is the day I find out if my car needs a new engine or not.  It's a very exciting time for me, because it means either I'm driving an effectively brand new car assembled by somebody only mildly qualified to assemble an entire engine in my car, or I drive away with the same old engine, not really knowing if it's about to die or not.  Good times!

Needless to say, today's Blag is not sponsored by the manufacturer of my car.

The more complete version of the events is as follows: I got a recall notice for my car stating that there was a potential manufacturing defect in the engine which would cause the entire motor block to sieze, rendering it forever useless.  There's an inspection that the dealer can do to determine if your engine is in the final throes of failure, and if your car fails that inspection, you get a free engine!  Hooray!

Of course, if a car "passes" the inspection, that simply means that its demise is not imminent.  I may be home free, or I may be driving a car that will stall for good at its leisure.  I'll never comfortably know the answer to that question.  Not knowing is exciting, right?
