Gold Medal!!!

Set a new PB on the Work Commute Pothole Slalom this morning!

That seems safe.  Good job, Jeremy.

Thank you.  As you are probably aware, there has been some inclement weather here in the Greater Jeremy Area for the past few weeks.  While this leads to the usual stuff like wearing heavy clothes, shoveling, and cursing Mother Nature, it also inevitably leads to crappy road conditions.

Yes, kids...the potholes are out in full force!

There's this one particular road on my commute to work.  It's sort of a back road, but it's a pretty heavily traveled back road because of the two main roads that it connects.  It's somewhat narrow and winding, but most times, it's totally decent for a commuter such as myself.  That said, it probably needs to be resurfaced.  By that, I mean it probably should have been resurfaced a couple years ago, but budget cuts and the need for other roads to be resurfaced (I'm looking at you, All Angels) took precedent, and it never got done.  Instead, last year's potholes were "patched" in the usual manner of dumping a shovel full of loose asphalt into them and hoping for the best.

Well, the best wasn't quite good enough, and the road is now a snow-drift-narrowed slippery winding mess of potholes which invariably leads to lots and lots of random-looking swerving while you're driving along.  Driving down the middle of both lanes while watching for oncoming traffic is pretty much the norm for all drivers who should probably take that other road I mentioned to get to work now, even though it's a slightly longer and less fuel efficient way to go.

So....this message goes out to the street department.  Can we see about getting a couple more shovels of asphalt onto this road before you completely tear it up and start over in the spring?  Kthanksbye.
