Unfortunately, This Blag Won't Let Me Use Comic Sans

Finally, there’s a typewriter with Comic Sans!

At last!  We've been waiting for this since...wait...nobody's ever wanted this.

So, fonts are a disturbingly controversial subject.

In fact, you'll often be reprimanded for simply using the word "font" instead of "typeface."  There's a difference or something.

One of the most commonly discussed fonts is known as Comic Sans.  It's widely available, and I will virtually guarantee that you have it installed on your computer right now.  It's a sillier font made to resemble the hand-written dialog bubbles in comic books.  It's also commonly used by young children in just about everything, leaving behind a remarkably unprofessional finished product.  Some people tend to not grow out of this phase of their lives and use Comic Sans as their font of choice for things that they really shouldn't.  Like resumes.

This has led to an intense hatred of all things Comic Sans on the internets.  Webpages like bancomicsans.com exist, along with comicsanscriminal.com and a blog called "Why I Hate Comic Sans."  This seems a little extreme.

Of course, the other side of the coin exists as well, where internets trolls use this disproportionate hatred of a simple typeface to annoy people.  Websites such as Use Comic Sans also exist to show just how much more fun the world would be if everything were printed in Comic Sans...such as stop signs and the Superman logo.

Certainly, the fact that fonts cause some people so much mental distress (and I have borne witness to a days-long internets discussion over the font used in Massachusetts road signs...neither of which were Comic Sans) is strange to me.  But the fact that some guy actually made a typewriter that uses Comic Sans is slightly moreso.  Stranger still is that this invention actually made it to The News.  People are actually complaining about this thing almost as if it's relevant.  Sure, you don't like Comic Sans...but for the love of all things good and plenty, it's a typewriter.  Nobody will EVER use the thing!
