Free Popcorn With Purchase!

I sincerely doubt I will ever want to tweet about a self-storage warehouse

Well, maybe if you won one of them on that fake game show about buying abandoned storage units, you'd tweet about it.

I suppose that's true.  But, failing that, I don't see anything all that tweet-worthy about self storage warehouses.

So, self-storage warehouses are pretty boring.  They're a big ol' building with a bunch of lockers of various sizes inside.  You rent one out for some defined period of time, come in, stuff in a bunch of the crap you own but don't have room for in your current living arrangement, and...well...that's about it.

I can see why there would be differences from one self-storage warehouse to another.  Some might be in better locations, have wider easier-access doors, better climate control, better lighting, improved security...you know...things like that.  Depending on your self-storage needs, these might lead you to pick one location over another, and that seems perfectly reasonable.  But why would you ever want to tweet about it?

See, there are a number of self-storage warehouses in the Greater Jeremy Area, since people around here apparently like to store stuff.  I've never researched any of them, so I have no idea what amenities any of them offer over another to offer a valid comparison.  What I do know is that one of them has a programmable lighted sign out front which can be easily seen from the major road.  When I drove past it recently, the sign read "Deals You Can Tweet About."

False.

Of course, I can't quite detail what kind of deal I could get on a self-storage locker in that particular warehouse (or any other, for that matter), but I can just about guarantee that I won't be tweeting about it.  I will, however, Blag about their stupid sign.

Quick Learner

I’m convinced people who make sunglasses purposely make those little nose pads impossible to replace so you have to buy new sunglasses

This is Jeremy's flimsy excuse to buy new sunglasses so he can be like that guy on CSI.

So, I've had these sunglasses in my car for some time now.  I honestly don't know, but I have reason to believe it's been a fair while.  See, the nose pads on them grew so old and brittle that they fell off not long ago.  One held on for about a week longer than the other, which I would almost maintain is really good quality control, but that's beside the point entirely.

While you may think that a lack of nose pads on sunglasses may not be such a big deal, and you'd have a point, I'm quickly learning that there is more than one purpose to sunglasses nose pads.

The nose pads are made out of a soft, plastic-type material that has a reasonably high coefficient of friction.  Everyone knows this.  These properties are what make the glasses comfortable to wear and stay on your face.  The pads are held onto the glasses frame via a small metal post.  Without nose pads, the glasses are slightly less comfortable, but they're light enough that you don't much notice.  Also, without nose pads, the glasses slide down your nose a little easier.  But, since there's not usually a lot of violent head motion when driving, and there are arms that hold onto your ears at the same time, the amount of slippage is pretty negligible.  So why, then, do I feel the need to have glasses with nose pads again?

Because the nose pads have one other important characteristic.  They retain significantly less heat than the little metal posts that hold them on.  Now that there are no pads, all of the heat stored in the frame gets transferred directly to my nose when I put the glasses on.  This sucks.  This sucks right out loud.

I need new sunglasses.

The Horror!

Work Commute Detour, Day 2.  I’m managing, but I don’t know how long I can hold out

We understand your struggles, Jeremy.  Stay strong for us!

Well, as is often the case in the Greater Jeremy Area, it's finally the end of winter and the start of road construction season.  We talked a while ago about the Work Commute Pothole Slalom, and the effect it has on my daily driving habits.  Well, nobody's doing anything about that road, but there is another one on my way to work that's arguably even worse.  It has much larger potholes, but it's a shorter road with less traffic, so it's less awful.  Well, that other road is now closed.

Yes, the signs had been there for a while.  Heavy machinery on the side of the road, new telephone poles, "Road Closed" signs...you know...everything that leads you to believe that something's about to go down.

Well, it all went down yesterday.  The detour signs were unveiled during the day on monday, and the little road is shut down.  My commute to work is now 1.6 miles longer.  It's troubling.
