I'll Shuffle, Too

I can’t tell if LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem” is supposed to be a real song or not

The creepy giant hamsters in the car commercial seemed to be pretty okay with it.

So I'm guessing most of you out there have heard this song and may just not recognize it by name, so I'll start by helping you out.

A well-known car company used it in a recent commercial featuring dancing robots and a mechanized soldier that bore a resemblance to Master Chief from Halo.

Very true...now when you say "well-known car company"...which one was it?

I'm not at liberty to say.

And that's because...?

It's because I forget which one.  Moving right along...

So this song is a strange blend of catchiness, banality, and lunacy that seriously makes me wonder if the song is supposed to be for real or not.  It very well could be a novelty song akin to anything Wierd Al Yankovic puts out, or it could just be the kind of popular tripe that in no way is supposed to be good music but ends up being ubiquitous and money-making.

Somebody help me out, here!

About the weather, too

It disturbs me how often I'm forced to think, "Lewis Black was right."

The bear is following you around?

Different bit.

Drinking Starbucks?

Again, not quite.

I'm losing interest in your story.

Lewis did a bit a while back about MTV, and how they've done everything they can to destroy music. This is done by showing music videos...which go in your eye, which is different from your ear. I'm paraphrasing due to Lewis's prolific use of F-Bombs, and this is a family blag.

Anyway, the point being that music videos are weird, and very seldom have anything to do with the song. And if you have mental visions while listening to a specific song, and it happens to match the MTV video for it, you have issues. Again, paraphrasing because we don't condone violence here.

So I came across a music video recently for a new song I kinda like. HERE'S THE VIDEO!! So uhmm....yeah. Give that a look and you'll start to wonder what exactly prompted some director to come up with THAT when they listened to the song.

Apologies in advance

As far as the Vengaboys are aware, there is only one word in the English language that rhymes with "Boom."

How is it you know this? You don't actually listen to their crap, right?

When it comes to musical inanity, few groups can match the stellar output of the aptly-named Vengaboys. Most of the singing is done by the two female members of the group, in case you were wondering.

While most widely known for creating the dopey song that the bald guy dances to in those Six Flags commercials, Vengaboys also routinely violate Jeremy's Big Rule #1 on a pretty routine basis.

For those unaware, Jeremy's Big Rule #1 states that "If the lyrics of your song include the name of your group, you've written a bad song."

For reasons that don't need exploring at this juncture, I was recently introduced to another one of their songs. Having remarkably low expectations, I was still disappointed. We'll go ahead and file this under If I Had To See This, So Do You.

The song is called "Boom Boom Boom Boom," and contains one word in the entirety of the lyrics that rhymes with "Boom."

Save yourself the pain...the word is "Room."

Given the tenuous grasp the lyricist has on rhyme, (The other key rhyme in the song is "Together" and "Forever") it's amazing that they couldn't come up with anything else. The second phrase in the chorus manages to rhyme "Boom" with "Boom" while inventing a phrase that makes no sense, regardless of how versed you are in double entendres.

Nobody knows what a "Double Boom" is. Again...save yourself by not listening to this trash. In fact...it's downright irresponsible of Jeremy to be posting it here. It can be considered harmful if viewed.

Why did people even see this?

I almost want to see Beyonce’s video now

Nobody watches music videos anymore...well, maybe the one for She Wolf, but that's for all the wrong reasons.

I guess that's a side point. Unless you've been living in a hole for the last 2 days, you're aware that a rapper whose name I won't repeat here because he's an idiot who I don't want associated with my Blag interrupted Taylor Swift's award speech. He apparently thought that somebody else made a better music video that nobody watched.

How is it that neither the winner of "Best Male Video" or "Best Female Video" won "Video of the Year"?

Also an interesting question that I don't really care about. What concerns me is the number of people that watched an awards show for music videos. Nobody watches music videos and Awards shows suck...so who's watching this double-stack crap sandwich?

He had it coming

Internet Killed the Video Star

I was sorry to see him go. He had a nice long run.

Today's Sametime Status is, of course a reference to The Buggles's song "Video Killed the Radio Star." This is simply the next step in the evolution.

Can we send flowers to the family or something?

Since the advent of The Internet (Or Tubes, if you prefer), everybody has stopped watching music videos. That and MTV and VH1 have decided that showing music videos isn't in their best interests anymore, instead pleasing us with quality, cerebrally-stimulating shows like "Real Chance At Love" and "The Real World/Road Rules Challenge." Personally, I blame the Internet for all of it.

Yeah...that Internet is a jerk. There's nothing good on it.

There's always your favourite Sametime Status Blag.

Like I said....nothing good.

Vote Baby!

If a baby were President there would be no taxes, there would be no war, there would be no government, and things could get terrible. It would actually be a better screenplay idea than a suggestion. Michael Scott; Dunder Mifflin

Still going on about the election, I see.

I needed an Office quote for tonight, and this Scottism from a recent episode seemed to fit the bill. It started out so innocently and positive...then turned somber...and finally went right back to Michael's dream of being a screenplay writer. I believe the hero secret service agent would be Agent Michael Scarn...played by Michael Scott.

Alright...so that's that. What else is good?

Good is a relative term. There's a relatively new Interwebz meme going around where people rewrite song lyrics to quite literally describe what's happening in the video. Often, they make light of strange locations, clothes, and the art direction of the video. It's not all that amusing, to be perfectly honest...but when somebody Rickrolled the Literal Video concept, I felt it needed to be shared. Enjoy!
